QMS is proud to announce that we have been awarded the GreenApple Award for Environmental Best Practice. Trophies were presented in the House of Commons on Monday November 14th 2011 and there were more than 500 nominations, other winners included Jaguar, VW, Fiat, Nissan as well as NHS Hospitals, local authorities.
The Green Apple Awards aim to “recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.” The awards are hosted by the Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group which is funded by memberships and sponsorship.
The ceremony was hosted by The Rt Hon Liz Kendall, MP, and the presentations were made by Chris Hopkins of Ploughcraft Solar; famous for revolutionising the domestic solar power industry and appearing on Dragon’s Den.
Peter Gamble, Managing Director of QMS International was delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award and was proud to receive the award on behalf of the company.
Judges for the Award are drawn from the Environment Agency, the Charted Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies and the award winners are either companies, councils or communities that have carried out projects to enhance the environment.
The Green Apple Awards are now in their eighteenth year, established as one of the major environmental recognition schemes, both in the UK and internationally. They are also recognised by the RSA, making them one of the few UK campaigns accepted as an automatic feeder scheme into the European Business Awards for the Environment.
