The onslaught of COVID-19 triggered the rapid digital transformation of many businesses, with VPNs, video conferencing software and remote working becoming the norm. As a result, cyber criminals quickly began to exploit the new opportunities open to them, putting business’ information security at risk.
With this changing situation in mind, we set out to question SMEs about their attitudes to cyber security, how vulnerable they felt and what their business is currently doing to keep information safe.
Our results, which were collected from January to February 2021, have now been compiled into an in-depth report: Staying secure: SMEs and Cyber Security.
Within the report, we detail how aware SMEs are of information security, how quickly they could deal with a cyber-attack, and give examples of actual attacks that have taken place.
We also highlight the importance of ongoing cyber security training, regular data risk assessments and the development of robust policies to reduce the risk of attacks and shorten the time needed to recover.
